At the passing of Elder Maxwell, my father predicted that we would see a string of Apostles go soon. I had no idea how soon he meant.
David B. Haight, an Aposlte of the Lord Jesus Christ, passed away this past week (1906-2004). I honor his memory.
I loved Elder Haight. His testimony was sweet and sincere. I can still hear his voice as I remember his conference talks. I can picture his mannerisms- the way he would wet his lips, close his eyes. He was a beloved man of God, a special witness of Jesus Christ.
On the topic of Apostles, I listened to an old conference talk that has always left me in tears. It's such a good one, read it here: The Grandeur of God It's by Jeffrey R. Holland and its about the nature of God. It's a great one to listen to.
Today I recieved a blessing and gave my first blessing. I ordained my brother to the office of Priest. It was a remarkable experience, one that has taught me two ways that the author of priesthood blessings is God, our loving Father in heaven. Of this I am sure.
I made pineapple pancakes after church. . . mmmm, soo good, but tooo sweet. lol. I'm getting old.

BOO! It's been a long time since I've been here, but ah well. Remember me? LoL. I just wanted to tell you how wonderful it is to come to your Xanga and read the things you write... your testimony shines through every word, and it just makes me so very joyous, because, well, people with strong testimonies of our Lord Jesus Christ and His church just make me happy inside, I guess. So, keep on being awesome, ok?
Love from
~allie~
Yeah, i have the same feelings that Allie has, you have one of the best sites on all of Xanga--just because of your amazing testimony that does shine through in every word that you speak. I know that you are truly converted to this gospel.
Anyway, the power of the priesthood is an amazing power, tell your brother congratulations about becoming a priest.

That's really cool, it's neat to see people you know advance in the Gospel. I'll miss your family during these next four months. But it will be cool to see how things have changed at Christmas.
About xanga, you're right. It can get out of control. I'm dealing with these political people commenting on my site, and yeah...it's really frustrating. I have to give you credit though Dan, it would be harder for me to try to defend the church than being Republican. Not because I don't believe in it, but because I would be afraid of not saying the right thing. It's a lot more sacred than dealing with liberals and conservatives.
You're awesome!
Elizabeth
you gave me zero props on my site..
and didn't leave a message to support this.
i have a question that might sound condescending, but i don't mean it that way at all, its just that all the mormans at my school wer horribly uneducated about their religion, but... What are the basic justifications for mormanism? How is it any "more right" than a sect of Christianity would be?
I am sorry that the Latter-day Saints at your school were uneducated on their faith (or too shy to share their education). I have found that the Latter-day Saints in my area are incredibly educated on their faith. Every morning during the school year we attended a class before school to study the scriptures and our Church. This class went from 6:20 AM to 7:10 AM. I learned a lot after going to this class for 4 years. I have also done my own private research because the Church is a passion of mine.
There are in the universe certain truths. Like 2+2=4. Think of these truths as chocolates, and the world's religions are like boxes. (life is like a box of chocolates
)
One chocolate might represent the truth that Jesus is the Christ. The Christian Churches have this chocolate among the many chocolates in their boxes. The Buddist boxes of chocolates are missing this chocolate, but they still have other chocolate truths, like the one that says to love your neighbor.
I believe that the Box of Chocolates we have as Latter-day Saints contains chocolates that other churches don't have. They are just as delicious and beautiful, but others have rejected them. One of these truths is latter-day revelation. We believe that God speaks to living prophets and apostles today.
I am grateful for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It has taught me so much, and I believe from my own personal experiences that it is true. It is the most complete, and most delicious of all the boxes of chocolate.
i just don't see the point in feigning respect for a country that has fallen so far. i'm not preaching utopia, but most of what i believe is contradicted by our current government and society.
thanks so much for the religious insight, tho!
hey, you're really hot. haha, I heard you complaining about never getting comments like that anymore, so I decided to be spontaneous. It's so sad about Elder Haight and Elder Maxwell. But I am glad that they've lived such full wonderful lives, and they've contributed so much to society. They won't be soon forgotten, that's for sure. Elder Maxwell will be a legend for a long time.
Talk to you later.

Hey, I've read your comments on a lot of other people's sites and just wanted to say hey, I'm from Louisiana and am going to BYU in the fall ... and as a girl who really likes chocolate, I really liked your chocolate analogy up there ... so true, so very true. I'm so grateful I get to taste all the chocolate, so to speak. You have some awesome insights, thanks for sharing them and sharing your testimony with the world ... you'll be an awesome missionary.
