  • yAy! I'm glad that they're having modest Fashion Shows so close to my home. That's the next stake over- maybe 20 min. away.

No! My 3 yr old sister chopped off all her golden curls. *tear* her hair isn't long and curly anymore. I'm going to cry.

P.S. To my LDS friends out there . . . Movie Trailer What do you think. I could tell you what I think about the movie, but . . . well first of all, I don't know exactly what I think yet. Second, no matter what I say, I think I'd get a lot of, "you're right" type comments instead of "I think . . ." comments.

  • Mmm I haven't seen it yet. I've heard both good and bad things about it. The good was that you felt the same way watching it as you did reading the book, and the bad that it was pretty amateur in acting and sfx.

I'm not all that interested in seeing it. For one, it looks like they gave Nephi a love story just for the sake of having a love story. I've heard the special effects are pretty obviously on a tight budget.

Hahaha, I think my biggest problem with the effort to put the stories in the Book of Mormon to film is that I wanted to do it. I'm not going to claim that I can do a better job, but I think some of the imagery I've come up with is at least better than some of what I saw in the trailer.

I also think that an effort to put the BoM to film is worthy of the finest special effects team and production crew out there. I'm talking Lord of the Rings quality here...

So yeah that's my two cents I guess.

When do you put in your papers, btw?

  • that's funny, I've wanted to make the movie for a long time too. I was going to focus on Mosiah, cause I think that's where the best movie plot is. You're right, I've had a lot of imagery that I think they could mess up.

I think I'd rather see them make a legacy type movie. Or work in the Glory. Make Gerald Lund's Work and the Glory a movie.

P.S. I don't send in my papers until next year. I'm a young Senior. I'll celebrate my 18th birthday in a college dorm.

Are you going to BYU this fall?

  • Nope, I'm going in for the summer. I'm an old senior - I turn 19 this September. Papers go in July 1st, so I'll probably enter the MTC in November or October.

    I would focus on Alma!

I heard that they were going to try to cover the Book of Mormon in eight movies. I don't think that's enough. You could make an entire movie out of Alma 2 alone!

Mmm one thought I have had, though, about the idea of making movies out of the Book of Mormon at all: How necessary is it? How many people, if the current BoM series is completed, are going to figure they don't have to read the book, because they can just watch the movies now? You don't want to become wholly an venture of entertainment, you know?

So yeah, 5-10 years from now, if you're not doing anything, and they've scrapped the BoM Movie project ( which I have a feeling they might ), want to try to pick it up again as co-directors? ;)

  • ... now you have me in dress-buying mode, darn you. this one is so pretty! no, this one!

  • yay for modest clothes!  Umm i heard the movie was SO cheesy, the effects were reeky, and the portrayel of the story was mediocre.
