Month: April 2003

  • I spoke today in sacrament meeting on "Revelation through the Holy Ghost." Due to popular demand (one person asked for it) I have posted my talk:

Jesus commands us in his Sermon on the Mount to
“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
“For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened”
    (Matt 7:7-8).
What an important concept! It was upon this principle that the Gospel of Jesus Christ was restored to the Earth. It was upon this principle that that same Church is able to continue to bless the lives of millions and bring the Truth to the four corners of the Earth.
When Joseph Smith was fourteen years old, he sought the truth in prayer, and he received it. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ came to him to tell him to be patient and wait for its restoration. He asked and the answer was given him. As he continued to wait for the restoration, he sought the truth. Angel Moroni, a resurrected prophet, came to him and told him where he could find golden tablets containing the record of a people who knew the truth. He sought the gospel, and he found the gospel. After he translated those tablets and published them as the Book of Mormon, he was commanded to organize the Church of Jesus Christ in the latter-days. He knocked, and the door to the fulness of the everlasting gospel was opened up to him. This process of revelation did not end there.
Brigham Young also asked, sought, and knocked for revelation. Through him the Church escaped the danger of the East and established a haven in the West. Wilford Woodruff asked, sought, and knocked receiving the revelation that removed the practice of polygamy from the Earth. Spencer W. Kimball asked, sought, and knocked, receiving the revelation that extended the priesthood to all righteous brethren of the Church. Gordon B. Hinckley, our Prophet today asked, sought, and knocked, opening up programs like the Perpetual Education System and receiving revelations that give us comfort in times of war and terror. The process of continuing revelation is essential to the Church of Jesus Christ.
Revelation is essential for the whole church, however. It is not just essential for Church authorities and prophets, it is essential for the members. Each of us, as baptized members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has received the gift of the Holy Ghost. We learn in the Doctrine and Covenants, Section 8:2-3 that revelation comes to all of us through the Holy Ghost.
“2 Yea, behold, I will tell you in your mind and in your heart, by the Holy Ghost, which shall come upon you and which shall dwell in your heart.
3 Now, behold, this is the spirit of revelation; behold, this is the spirit by which Moses brought the children of Israel through the Red Sea on dry ground.”
In 2nd Nephi, 32:5, the Lord promises us,
“5 For behold, again I say unto you that if ye will enter in by the way, and receive the Holy Ghost, it will show unto you all things what ye should do.”
When we are baptized and given the gift of the Holy Ghost, we “enter in by the way” and are entitled, no, are obligated to receive revelation by the Spirit. It will show us what to do, what to say, and what to believe.
The pattern of revelation is the same since before the foundation of the world. In Moses chapter 6 we read that
“when the Lord had spoken with Adam, our father, that Adam cried unto the Lord, and he was caught away by the Spirit of the Lord, and was carried down into the water, and was laid under the water, and was brought forth out of the water.
65 And thus he was baptized, and the Spirit of God descended upon him, and thus he was born of the Spirit, and became quickened in the inner man.
66 And he heard a voice out of heaven, saying: Thou art baptized with fire, and with the Holy Ghost . . .”
Adam was baptized and received revelation of the Holy Spirit. As we read in D&C 8:3, it was by the “spirit of revelation . . . [that] Moses brought the children of Israel through the Red Sea on dry ground.” Moses received revelation of the Holy Spirit. In Daniel chapter 10, the Lord appears to Daniel saying in verse 12, “Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.” Daniel received revelation from the Spirit after he first asked God and sought to understand. Peter likewise received revelation concerning the nature of Jesus in Matthew chapter 16. Jesus asked his apostles, “But whom say ye that I am?” To which “Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.” The revelation that Jesus Christ is the Son of God came not by mortal flesh but by the Spirit of Heavenly Father. These great men received revelation.
Adam did, Moses did, Daniel did, Peter did, Joseph Smith did, and we can do it today. Revelation always comes from the Spirit, and it comes when we do as the Lord told Daniel, by first having a desire to understand, then chastening ourselves before God. We should do as Christ directs, asking, seeking, and knocking. As James said, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him” (James 1:5).
We are humans, we all lack wisdom. There are things you don’t know; seek out those things through the Spirit. The Holy Ghost can tell you what to do to help you overcome a weakness. The Holy Ghost can tell you what is true or how to gain a testimony of the gospel. The Holy Ghost can reveal to you the divinity of Jesus Christ and where to find his gospel. The Holy Ghost can tell you what do you when the gates of hell surround you and the world seems to be falling apart. That’s his job. He is there to comfort you, to direct you, to guide you, and to testify to you. I pray that we will all seek revelation by the Holy Spirit.
One of my favorite scriptures is Moroni 10:4-5. Moroni tells us what to do after we read the Book of Mormon.
“4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.
5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.”
I testify that it works- that by the Holy Ghost we may know the truth of all things. I would encourage you to read the Book of Mormon and find out for yourself if it is true. I have.
I then closed with my testimony in the name of Jesus Christ,
    Amen

Anyway, today has been a bitter-sweet day. I love speaking, and it was very spiritual (for me at least), but at the same time I was still trying to deal with everything thats been haunting me all weekend. At least I was able to get some laughs, Andy fell asleep in Sacrament meeting and looked very funny- Adam and Heather H. and I couldn't help but laugh (I tried to hide it). I needed that. I also need another nap. One nap just isn't enough.

    Memory of the Day:
Steak and Shake last year, at Kirtland, after we went to the Johnson Farm. Good times and bad,

  • Friday Night just past Midnight:

Hey, I just got back from a party at Mary's house. It was fun, but I'm having a really hard time. I'd appreciate it if you would keep my ward in your prayers, thanks

    Dan

    Saturday Morning:

Sorry about my melodrama last night. I just kinda felt like the whole Ward was falling apart. My home teacher, Brother Johnson is now in the hospital. He has always been one of my role models, and so to hear of him in the hospital really freaked me out. Tensions in my ward have been really high as people keep getting sick (myself included a while ago) and other people move in and out of the ward. A lot of people's jobs are not very stable, and so many people are finding work outside of my ward. It's really hard for me to think of so many of my close friends possibly leaving me. On top of all of that stress of health and parents and moving, or perhaps from that stress, a lot of the youth in my ward are getting upset with eachother. Everybody is mad at somebody; everybody has offended somebody; everybody is being offended by everybody. We were a very close ward- still are. We have hung out together, helping eachother for a long time. But I think that right now with all that is going on, we need to stop being offended and offending others and start remembering all of those times we shared together. The happiest times in my life have been with the Buffalo Grove 1st ward. Anyway, now that I've gotten some sleep I'm not freaking out anymore, but we could still use your prayers. Thanks a lot,

    Dan

    Saturday Night:

Seminary Scripture Mastery Event was this afternoon. The event was fun. The dance was not. The last half hour was alright, but the first part of the dance was just horrid. Bad D.J., and the tension- wow, I think I could have cut the tension in the room with a knife it was so thick. All the stress, and something else. Something I don't know, but I guess, and I'm deathly scared of what I guessed. Enough so that I pulled President Evans aside for a chat. He gave me 3 main pieces of advice. The first thing he told me was that there was a power in keys, which meant that I should talk with Bishop Green. The second thing he told me was that all things have their seasons. Sometimes the rose will be in full bloom, and other times all you will see is the seemingly dead thorns, but that all things would cycle through the seasons. Basically if times are rough now, they're be smooth later and visa versa. He also told me that the rough times were meant to refine- a time for growth and new strength. The last thing he told me was about selfishness. He told me to be wary of it, to avoid it, and pointed out that it cause much of the problems in anything. He said that selflessness would help make things better. That gave me a lot of comfort, but I still cried during the "best friend" song and I still came close to it during "Iris" . . .
*sigh* Jeff Prows stop laughing, I know you are making fun of my drama, but it's late at night and I don't care, I'll be dramatic if I want to be dramatic.

P.S. I'm now going to start posting "memories for the day"

Today's Memory is the bond fire at the 2001 Stake Barn Dance. Good times; good times.

  • Today is Thursay- thursday already. A good day though. Thank you Andy for helping me get flowers this morning. Thank you Heather for deciding to put up with me at Prom I can't wait, it will be lots of fun. Anyway, I have to get going on some physics, but I will talk to everyone later . . .

    President Hinckley's Address

I told you I would post some of what President Hinckley had to say on Sunday about the war that really impressed me:

"I hope that the Lord’s people may be at peace one with another during times of trouble, regardless of what loyalties they may have to different governments or parties . . . I have prayed and pondered much concerning this. I recognize it is a very sensitive subject for an international congregation . . . I think our Father in Heaven must have wept as He has looked down upon His children through the centuries as they have squandered their divine birthright in ruthlessly destroying one another. In the course of history tyrants have arisen from time to time who have oppressed their own people and threatened the world.
"Such is adjudged to be the case presently, and consequently great and terrifying forces with sophisticated and fearsome armaments have been engaged in battle. . . There have been casualties in this terrible conflict, and there likely will be more. Public protests will likely continue. Leaders of other nations have, in no uncertain terms, condemned the coalition strategy. . . We recognize and teach that all the people of the earth are of the family of God. And as He is our Father, so are we [Muslims, Latter-day Saints and members of other faiths] brothers and sisters with family obligations one to another. . .

"But as citizens we are all under the direction of our respective national leaders. They have access to greater political and military intelligence than do the people generally. Those in the armed services are under obligation to their respective governments to execute the will of the sovereign. When they joined the military service, they entered into a contract by which they are presently bound and to which they have dutifully responded.

"One of our Articles of Faith, which represent an expression of our doctrine, states, “We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law” (Articles of Faith 1:12).

"But modern revelation states that we are to “renounce war and proclaim peace” (D&C 98:16).

"In a democracy we can renounce war and proclaim peace. There is opportunity for dissent. Many have been speaking out and doing so emphatically. That is their privilege. That is their right, so long as they do so legally. However, we all must also be mindful of another overriding responsibility, which I may add, governs my personal feelings and dictates my personal loyalties in the present situation. . .
"It is clear from these [Alma chapter 43] and other writings that there are times and circumstances when nations are justified, in fact have an obligation, to fight for family, for liberty, and against tyranny, threat, and oppression.

When all is said and done, we of this Church are people of peace. We are followers of our Redeemer, the Lord Jesus Christ, who was the Prince of Peace. But even He said, “Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword” (Matthew 10:34).

This places us in the position of those who long for peace, who teach peace, who work for peace, but who also are citizens of nations and are subject to the laws of our governments. Furthermore, we are a freedom-loving people, committed to the defense of liberty wherever it is in jeopardy. I believe that God will not hold men and women in uniform responsible as agents of their government in carrying forward that which they are legally obligated to do. It may even be that He will hold us responsible if we try to impede or hedge up the way of those who are involved in a contest with forces of evil and repression. . . To our brothers and sisters in harm’s way, we say that we pray for you. We pray that the Lord will watch over you and preserve you from injury and that you may return home and pick up your lives again. We know that you are not in that land of blowing sand and brutal heat because you enjoy the games of war. The strength of your commitment is measured by your willingness to give your very lives for that in which you believe. . . Even when the armaments of war ring out in deathly serenade and darkness and hatred reign in the hearts of some, there stands immovable, reassuring, comforting, and with great outreaching love the quiet figure of the Son of God, the Redeemer of the world. We can proclaim with Paul:

“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

“Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38–39). . .

"He has said, “Learn of me, and listen to my words; walk in the meekness of my Spirit, and you shall have peace in me” (D&C 19:23).

"And there, my brothers and sisters, we rest our faith. Regardless of the circumstances, we have the comfort and peace of Christ our Savior, our Redeemer, the living Son of the living God. I so testify in His holy name, even the name of Jesus Christ, amen." (President Gordon B. Hinckley)

President Hinckley's full General Conference Address

Wow. That was just so amazing, so inspiring. It is so true- those were the words of a Prophet of God. The leaders of government and military know things we don't, that is why they can make the choices in this war. I trust them. The Iraqi people are our brothers, and as such, we have an obligation to help them. In their tragic time of oppression, that means ending tyranny. On TV today I saw an iraqi approach a soldier to say in broken english, "We have been waiting for you." I believe that is true. Our brethren are waiting for us. Let us go to meet them.

P.S. Hood vs. Hat . . . Andy? I'll never understand your hoodiephobia I am the exact opposite. I hate hats, but I love hoodies. That's wierd though, come to think of it, I have never seen you wear a hood, now I know why . . .

P.P.S. everyone keeping track of my events page?

  • I wrote an article I thought I would share . . . read the article carefully to understand my intent

~Today, April 9, 2003, was the annual Nation-Wide Day of Silence to promote the acceptance of Homosexual activity. Thousands of people around the nation took up a vow of silence in an effort to spread the word that Gays and Lesbians should not have to be silent about their "natural" inclinations towards members of the same gender. Due to the success of this national event, local High Schools and Universities all over are sponsoring more of such events, the first of which is tomorrow. April 10, 2003 will be the first National Day of Pedophile Silence. It is time for society to accept pedophilia and open our arms to pedophiles all over the world.

Pedophilia is a natural phenomenon that makes adults sexually attracted to children. For years pedophiles have been attacked by society. People call them names like "child-molestor" and "abuser." Americans have even arrested thousands of innocent adults who act on their sexual longing towards children. This injustice must stop. Pedophiles are people too, they should be accepted just as much as gays and lesbians. Being a pedophile is no different than being homosexual, so now that we can accept homosexuality, the next step is accepting pedophilia.

It is time that people understand that pedophiles are not guilty for sucumbing to their desires to build emotional and physical relationships with young children. After all, it is natural. Dr. Micheal J. Whiteman of the Regional Association of Pedaphile Education (R.A.P.E.) claims, "Recent studies show that pedophilia may be genetic. An enlarged hypothalamus gland most likely causes more hormones to flow into the brain triggering intense feelings of attraction towards children. It is perfectly normal." Further studies from the Association of Pediatric and Experimental Studies (A.P.E.S.) shows that pedophila is a growing tendency in America, Taiwan, Italy, and some other European nations. One out of ten Americans are effected by Pedophilia in some way. Obviously since the trend is so common, we need to accept it.

Father S. A. Gomorra, a former Priest, has recently founded the Friends Accepting Pedophiles Organization (F.A.P.O.). The Organization hopes to eventually create laws legalizing marriage between adults and children. Gomorra says, "I realize that our goals are ambitious, but the laws prohibiting Adult-Child relationships must be nullified. Those laws are unconstitutional, not only do they prevent people from expressing themselves, but they show how narrow-minded America is." That is precisely why tomorrow will be a national day of pedophile silence.

Although the time for pedophile acceptance is near, there has been a surprisingly large resistance to tomorrows proposed day of silence. A large Religious organization held a protest in Salt Lake City yesterday. At the protest, a spokesperson for the Group of Obedient Diciples (G.O.O.D.) says, "No matter what the world says, we believe that God does not accept sexual relationships between adults and kids." Despite the group's strong stand against the clearly natural attraction to children, F.A.P.O. is confident that one day America will be able to accept not only all people, but all behaviors. With the sucess of Gay/Lesbian awareness, other groups can find hope in the future for the acceptance of their behaviors. Today we accept homosexuality, tomorrow we accept pedophilia, and one day we will be able to accept alcoholism, drug addiction, adultery, homicide, and cannibolism.~

By the way, in english we are studying satire. I like satire. I can't wait to write a satire . . .
Anyway, as you can tell, I was not happy with my High School for endorsing and sponsoring todays Day of Silence.

Seminary was really good today. We learned about the martyrdom of Joseph Smith. I'm not going to describe the feelings I felt on that because somethings are too sacred for the internet, but I will say that I did cry, and that I do know that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God and that by gaining a testimony in that you will gain a stronger testimony of Jesus Christ.

YAY FOR U.S. TROOPS IN BAGDAD! and thanks to Mr. Bolger's class. I feel like a latter-day Hitler is going to be put down and a latter-day Berlin Wall is falling. It feels good.

    Well, with that I'll sign off . . .

P.S. remember I do not tolerate swearing on my site. Please keep your comments clean

P.P.S. for those of you calling me a bigot now for my inacceptance of the "they can't help it" line . . . you my find this site interesting.

P.P.P.S. If you are curious about homosexuality and my conservative views on it, you may be interested in Evergreen International

  • Today we went to the Bishop's Storehouse. Heather came along, which was lots of fun. We got to do service for needy people instead of doing homework and we got to go to steak and shake. Fun. To bad everybody got to the restraunt right as we left. Oh well. It was still fun.

P.S. Andy, I have never (and probably never will) understand your fear of stickers. I think there are some deeply phycological issues there, maybe you should explore them with Bishop Green?!

  • It's a big day today. 2003 years ago Jesus was born in Bethlehem. 173 years ago the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was organized. Today was General Conference . . . 3 Pretty big events . . .

Well, I have now been through 10 hours of General Conference . . . and I loved everything I heard. Today I was so impressed with Gordon B. Hinckley's address on the War (Operation: Iraqi Freedom). As he spoke, I knew without a doubt that he was a Prophet and that the things he was saying were true. President Hinckley's Address

I was also impressed by Jeffrey R. Holland's talk about the Children. In it he said that Neal A. Maxwell had once casually said to him that no one seemed to have a problem with conformity when the Red Sea was parted. I must agree. I believe in the individual, but I am a big fan of Unity.

I am so grateful for the Prophets of the Latter-Days. There is a lot we can learn from them. Goto www.LDS.org for the General Conference talks . . . here's my report from yesterday:

    Saturday, April 5, 2003
*Sigh* It's been a long day . . . but General Conference was good. I really enjoyed this morning's session. I love Elder Russel M. Nelson (Quorum of the 12 Apostles)- his talk on prayer was amazing. I was also really touched by the Tab Choir's rendition of "Praise to the Man." It gave me shivers . . . for those of you who haven't heard it . . .

"Praise to the man who communed with Jehovah,
Jesus anointed that Prophet and Seer,
Blessed to open the last dispensation,
King's shall extoll him, And nations revere.

"Hail to the Prophet, ascended to heaven!
Traitors and tyrants now fight him in vain.
    Mingling with Gods, he can plan for his brethren;
Death cannot conquer the hero again.

    "Praise to his memory, he died as a martyr;
Honored and blest be his ever great name!
Long shall his blood, which was shed by assassins,
Plead unto heaven while the earth lauds his fame. . .

"Great is his glory and endless his priesthood.
Ever and ever the keys he will hold.
Faithful and true, he will enter his kingdom,
Crowned in the midst of the prophets of old . . .

    "Sacrifice brings forth the blessings of heaven;
Earth must atone for the blood of that man.
Wake up the world for the conflict of justice.
Millions shall know "brother Joseph" again.

"Hail to the Prophet, ascended to heaven!
Traitors and tyrants now fight him in vain.
    Mingling with Gods, he can plan for his brethren;
Death cannot conquer the hero again. "

What a powerful song. What a powerful man- Joseph Smith. I testify that he is a Prophet of God. I know that Jesus Christ and our Father in Heaven appeared to him, restoring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the Earth.

I was also deeply touched at the Priesthood session of Conference tonight. I testify that in these latter days we are lead by true and living Apostles and Prophets of God. Gordon B. Hinkley is such a Prophet. I have heard him speak, I have heard his special witness of Jesus Christ. The Spirit has born witness to me that President Hinkley is a Prophet. Oh, I hope you had the chance to hear him speak today. If not, please hear him tomorrow. The message he and the other Church leaders have to bring us are important, divine instructions.

I testify that those instructions come from God. I know that He lives, that His Son, Jesus Christ, atoned for our sins. I know that through the sacred Priesthood power families may be sealed together forever. I know that the Bible is a true testament of Jesus Christ; I testify that the Book of Mormon is also a true testament of Jesus Christ. All of these things bring me so much happiness. That's what I love about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints-- it makes me so happy.

P.S. You can hear General Conference (or at least read it) again if you missed it at www.lds.org

P.P.S. Prow's- it's good to have you back (and everyone else that was gone for that matter)

  • Pretty good day today- despite Adam's insults and Andy's jokes . . . well lets start at the beginning.
Helped out around the house and did some homework this morning. that included watching the Cat's Meow. I didn't really like the movie- the beginning was too slow and I wasn't thrilled with the morality (or lack thereof). Anyway, when I finished my homework I went to Andy's where he and Adam were waiting. Megan told Andy that he was welcome to come over, so he went and showered as Adam and I went to pick up Weggs. Went to Greg's Custard- best ice cream I've had since it closed last year. mmmmmm. Weggs got Megan a milkshake, and then we went and bought Megan a can of soup for laughs (it's ok if you don't get it, you can ask Megan). This is when Adam said that I was driving like Elizabeth. He said he didn't mean it, but then again, he did continue to make comments about me driving like a woman. *SNARL* Weggs, Adam, and I then proceded on to Megan's house to drop off flowers, soup, and the milkshake. I think we all were a little surprised to some extent to find Andy already there- we had been told that Megan was grounded. Oh, by the way, Dana, you started a fad. For some reason everybody keeps coughing around me, and I blame you and Mary!!! Guys! It's not funny anymore! Anyway, we watched Meet the Parents, and then I had to go home. I got a nice goodbye from Megan (the only one who didn't make fun of me) and then I was off (not before Andy was able to mimick Megan's goodbye with a little twist) . . . Ok, I'm done typing right now. Don't forget it's General Conference tomorrow . . . Let's go to lunch between sessions.

  • Today was very fun. It's late and I'm listening to Avril Lavigne . . . "I'm tyring to remember, Why I was afraid To be myself and let the Covers fall away . . . I never felt like this before. I'm naked Around you Does it show? You see right through me And I can't hide . . ." Ok I'm done singing. Anyway . . . speaking of lyrics, nobody knows the lyrics to this song I just found. I really like "Fever for the Flava" by Hot Action Cop, but I can't find the lyrics. Andy and I listened to it slowly to try and figure them out-- this is what we came up with:
You've got the power, of the whoo ya/I've got the fever for the flava of it, ooo ya/And did I mention, And pay attention/I'm gonna take a hammer to the mansion./I've got the green glow under my car;/I've got the boom boom super duper hit real hard . . ./Oh a pretty pretty shy oh whoap whoap . . ./Oh a pretty pretty fly girl whoap whoap/What do I have to say To get it right girl?/What do I have to say? whoap whoap/mmmmmmm-/We've got the power, Of the ooo ya,/I've got the fever for the flava of it ooo ya./I'll be the better metal cop car racer,/We'll be the super sonic high speed chaser . . .
I've got the green glow under my car/I've got the boom boom super duper hit real hard . . .
Oh a pretty pretty shy oh whoap whoap . . .
Oh a pretty pretty fly girl whoap whoap
What do I have to say To get it right girl?/What do I have to say? whoap whoap

The song continues with more whoap's and ooo ya's and pretty pretty's.  If anyone has the official lyrics, please send them to me!  That song has an awesome beat- anyway . . . back to today.

Today was fun.  Went bowling with Andy and John.  I won the first game with a score of 126; I came in second with the next round with a score of 86.  Eh, sometimes I'm lucky sometimes I'm not.  We then went to John's house, where I blew of lots of steam crashing virtual cars into semi-trucks.  That was fun, then Andy got on his screen name, and John and I thought we could have some fun with that . . . I had to pull Andy away from the computer first- which lead to a rule-less, ruthless wrestling match that lasted an hour.  It was fun though- cause you know I could destroy Andy anytime . . . Actually we both came out equal with some good shots.  Anway, ran around the house a while, then had some pizza as Adam came over.  That's when we tried to decipher the lyrics to Hot Action Cop's song.  From there we had a party as James, Janna, and Mary came over.  Much fun with video games, tickling (I hate tickling ), and Singles Ward Truth or Dare.  Highlights of that game included watching Andy lay an egg, watching Andy sing Battle Hymn of the Republic with ice in his pants, and seeing John call Dana to profess his love to her . . . oh yeah, and James said that Andy and I would have the best looking kids (I don't know why, Andy is so Ugly, I guess I'm good looking enough to make up for it though) . . . Anyway, that was today in a nutshell- fun, huh?  I'll sign off now . . .

  • Don't try to analyze a chick flick- it doesn't work. I'll get back to that.

Today was pretty fun. Went to Wendys and Hobby Lobby with my family- did some chores, then ran over to Andy's to meet him and Adam. We went to some place in Arlington Hights to return Adam's broken playstation steering wheel/pedal. I had promised Whitney that I'd do something with her today, so we grabbed a bite to eat and she convinced me to see "View from the Top." All I can say is wow. I'm the kinda person who analyses movies- well, I tried. I tried to find something deep- to find some foreshadowing, or at least some symbolism. There was none. The movie was so predictable it was sick. Oh well- I guess it wasn't that bad . . . well I got to get to bed, bye

Andy found this article yesterday that really made me mad. The article is on CNN- "Step away from the freedom fries". The basic argument of the article is that the rift between France and the United States will hurt our economy. *SNARL* That is so wrong it's sick! So what if the French are boycotting McDonalds; Who cares if we waste French wine. Personally I think it's a good thing to get rid of wine- but aside from that, there is a need to support OUR nation.

Many of you have heard the Dixie Chicks and their Anti-Bush speaches and Anti-War protest. They have made it clear that they will not support the president nor his war nor his government. They are ashamed of him. I swear I will never listen to another Dixie Chicks song again. I commend the radio stations that have boycotted their songs.

There is nothing wrong with walking out on something that goes against what you believe. When the colonist boycotted Brittish Imperialist goods, were they worried that it would hurt they're economy? No! And if the french want to boycott American products because we are at War with a Latter-Day Hitler, who cares? I don't agree with them, but I think they have the right to boycott what they think is wrong without us being afraid of the economy. I don't think we should try to tone down our feelings just so that we can make more money. Nor do I think we are in any economic danger (aside from the recession Clinton started).

I don't know about you, but I am PROUD of freedom fries. I don't mean to diminish any kind of culture, but I do mean to avoid the that which supports things that I believe are wrong. I believe in supporting good things, and boycotting the bad. *sigh* But what can you do. ~More political opinions on my AIM profile~

  • Grrrrrr- It was April Fools day today and I completely forgot! I wanted to do something really cool! Oh well . . . All is Well (you know the version of All is Well on the Singles Ward soundtrack is really cool ) Anyway . . . no one is in town anyway . . . Just Andy and Adam and John. No girls

Today was fun. After cleaning the basement, running laundry, making beds, and getting little siblings dressed I was able to pick up some bozo off the street - Actually it was just Andy who needed a lift while his car was getting fixed. I felt sorry for the car- it had to have a engine diagnosis- poor thing (most of you won't understand my empathy- that's ok, its a joke you don't want to know) Anyway- helped Andy take down some Christmas lights and fly a kite- played video games when Adam came over while I ate all the pizza. Good times. Made it home in time to take my brother to scouts, and here I am . . . listening to wondering by Good Charlotte. Good Song . . . "If you want me to wait, I would wait for you. If you want me to stay, I would stay right through. If you don't wanna say Anything at all, I'm happy wondering"
And with that I'll sign off and talk some more tomorrow.
